Safeguarding Policy — Children

Purpose

Ashburton Repair Cafe is committed to protecting the welfare of all children who visit our events. The safety and well-being of children is of paramount importance.

Scope

This policy applies to all trustees, volunteers and staff of Ashburton Repair Cafe.

Our commitment

  • We will treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • We recognise that the welfare of the child is paramount.
  • We will act promptly on any concerns raised about the welfare of a child.
  • We will cooperate fully with statutory authorities in any investigation relating to the safeguarding of a child.

Children at sessions

Children are welcome to attend sessions but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Volunteers will not be left alone with a child.

Recognising abuse

Abuse may take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect. If you are concerned about the welfare of a child, please raise this with a trustee immediately or contact the relevant statutory authority.

Reporting concerns

Any concerns about the welfare of a child should be reported immediately to a trustee or to Devon County Council's children's services. Do not attempt to investigate concerns yourself.

In an emergency, call 999.

Contact

For safeguarding concerns, please contact us or speak to a trustee at any session.
